We always hear reports about big snowstorms heading our way.
Where is this Lake Effect snow they keep talking about in Southwest Michigan?
Don’t get us wrong… we’re not saying that we don’t receive our fair share of winter storms here between South Haven Michigan & St. Joseph Michigan. We see the local and national weather reports flashing the “Lake Effect Snow” warnings across the screen. We run to the grocery store, buy a whole bunch of things we don’t really need, then hunker down in anticipation of being snowed in for weeks 🙂
We wait for it… wait for it… cozy up by the fire… but it never comes. We tune back in only to see that Kalamazoo got hit with 12 inches of snowfall and Grand Rapids accumulated 24 inches !!!
We’ve never commissioned an “official study”, but it sure seems like that “Lake Effect Snow” they speak about passes us by… seeking targets further inland almost 80% of the time.
Of course, there are countless other Lake Effects we’re lucky to have all year-long 🙂
